FlowPhysix was founded with the vision to set new standards for the treatment of endovascular diseases. The company’s first area of focus is peripheral thrombectomy – where significant performance gaps exist with current thrombectomy systems and physicians continue to seek better solutions for treating their patients. By leveraging the foundational science of fluid flow and through extensive studies of clot morphology and blood flow, the company has developed the FLOWRUNNER™ Aspiration System. This breakthrough system has proven to deliver significant performance advantages over conventional aspiration and stentriever thrombectomy systems.

FlowPhysix (formerly Expanse ICE) was founded in 2022 and spun off from Expanse Medical in April 2024. Guided by engineering rigor, deep clinical insight, and a strong emphasis on foundational science, Expanse Medical is a global powerhouse in vascular innovation and manufacturing.

Traditional single lumen aspiration catheters suffer from vacuum decay with efficiency dropping by two thirds at the distal tip. The FLOWRUNNER™ technology’s unique mechanism of action ensures that the optimal vacuum power of the pump is available at the distal tip.

The FLOWRUNNER™ Aspiration System can be operated with any FDA approved continuous flow vacuum pump without limitations on settings.

3comma is an international commercialization agency with deep expertise in building and scaling global revenue streams for early-stage medical device companies. This partnership between FlowPhysix and 3comma will provide physicians outside the United States access to new standards in thrombectomy technology, enabling FlowPhysix to focus on US commercialization.

Expanse Ice aspiration system receives US FDA clearance for vessels of the peripheral arterial and venous systems

Expanse Ice recently announced that its Ice aspiration system has received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A press release notes that the Ice system is specifically designed to address the complex challenges associated with peripheral thrombectomies.

Eitan Konstantino, a serial entrepreneur in the vascular device field, is the driving force behind Expanse Ice. “We’ve engineered the Ice catheter system to harness the aspiration power typical of a large bore catheter, but within the slender profile of a much smaller device,” Konstantino said.
