What keeps me in MedTech recruiting is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people's careers while helping companies find the talent that drives innovation in healthcare. I love building relationships, connecting people with opportunities they may not have found on their own, and seeing firsthand how the right fit can change someone's career.
A long-standing client would describe working with me as collaborative, responsive and relationship-driven. I take the time to understand their team, their business needs and the type of person who will truly succeed in the role, while keeping communication open and giving honest, thoughtful feedback throughout the process. My goal is to build lasting partnerships where clients know they can count on me to understand their needs and deliver results.

Getting a candidate into the industry after years of trying
One search I am especially proud of was helping a candidate who had been trying to break into the medical device industry for several years. The challenge was finding an opportunity that not only got him into the industry but also aligned with his experience, strengths and long-term career goals. I took the time to understand his background and what he was looking for, then connected him with a team where his skills and personality were a strong fit. Through that process I helped him secure an opportunity that aligned with his goals and offered a $20,000 increase in base salary. Seeing him finally break into the industry while taking a meaningful step forward financially was incredibly rewarding.

What most people get wrong
The belief
The best candidate is always the person with the most direct industry experience.
The reality
Transferable skills, coachability and the ability to build relationships can be just as important. Some of the strongest candidates come from adjacent industries and bring a competitive mindset, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in the space. The challenge is helping hiring managers recognize that potential rather than focusing too narrowly on titles or years of experience. Finding the right fit means looking beyond the resume and understanding what someone can bring to the team.
The questions that come up every week
Put any of these to Ashlyn directly and you'll get a straight answer.
How do I break into medical device sales?
How do I know if a candidate is the right fit beyond what is on their resume?
What does the compensation package and earning potential look like for this opportunity?
How do I stand out in a competitive candidate pool?
