Interventional Pain Management recruiting and talent strategy.

Your team

Interventional pain is a referral-driven market built on procedures rather than prescriptions. Physicians include interventional pain specialists, anesthesiologists and physiatrists, many of whom own their practice, and prior authorization sits inside almost every therapy decision. Neuromodulation and ablation products demand serious engineering, clinical research and regulatory work, alongside field clinical support and commercial teams who understand practice economics.

What we search

Inside interventional pain management.

A search usually sits in one of these areas, and often spans two or three.

01

Chronic pain

Spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery for patients who have exhausted conservative care. Therapy adoption runs through a trial period, psychological evaluation and payer approval, and the devices themselves rely on firmware, battery and lead engineering and long-term clinical evidence.

  • Neuromodulation Engineer
  • Clinical Research Manager
  • Field Clinical Specialist
  • Reimbursement Manager
02

Back pain

Basivertebral nerve ablation, vertebral augmentation, minimally invasive sacroiliac fusion and interspinous devices for lumbar stenosis. These procedures compete with injections on one side and open surgery on the other, so clinical trial evidence, product design and referral development all shape adoption.

  • R&D Engineer
  • Clinical Affairs Manager
  • Clinical Specialist
  • Market Development Manager
03

Joint pain

Radiofrequency ablation of genicular and hip nerves, image-guided injections, and viscosupplementation carried by some pain practices. Volume sits in office-based and ambulatory settings, so generator and probe engineering, coding support and practice development all reach the same physician owner.

  • Electrical Engineer
  • Reimbursement Specialist
  • Practice Development Manager
  • Territory Manager
04

Cancer pain

Intrathecal drug delivery, celiac plexus and other neurolytic blocks, and vertebral augmentation for metastatic fractures. Referrals come from oncology and palliative care, so medical affairs, clinical evidence and credibility with a tumor board matter as much as field support.

  • Medical Science Liaison
  • Clinical Specialist
  • Regulatory Affairs Specialist
  • Therapy Development Manager
What makes it hard

Where interventional pain management searches go wrong.

The assumptions that cost the most time, and what tends to be true instead.

“Neuromodulation talent only comes from neuromodulation companies”

That pool is small and the same candidates move between the handful of companies in it. The transferable skill is running a therapy through a trial, a payer approval and a referral network, and in engineering, building active implants under strict regulatory control. Both describe work in several other implantable therapies, which opens the search without lowering the bar.

“Physician-owned practices buy like any other account”

They don't. The physician signs the check, so payback period, staffing and how a procedure codes matter in the first meeting. Commercial hires trained inside hospital systems often lead with clinical data and lose the room. Candidates who have sold capital or service lines into private practice tend to translate well.

“A new coverage policy will lift the business on its own”

Coverage opens the door, but adoption follows the evidence and the documentation behind it. Companies that win after a policy change have clinical, health economics and market access teams that can support appeals, publish outcomes and train practices on prior authorization. Leaders who invest only in procedural selling leave the opportunity unconverted.

“There is an endless pool of candidates who check every box and want the role.”

People are not widgets. The best candidate may not meet every criterion, so successful hiring means knowing where you can be flexible. Great hires often come from candidates who lacked one specific requirement but had the right attitude, transferable skills and ability to learn.

How a search runs

Four steps, every time.

The same sequence whether the seat is an engineer, a clinical lead or a territory in interventional pain management, or the executive who builds the team around them.

  1. 01Define

A Talent Director who knows your specialty scopes the role, what it has to deliver and the profile that actually wins in your market.

  2. 02Search & vet

We reach passive candidates others can't, then screen for skill, culture fit and motivation before you see a single resume.

  3. 03Present

Three to five qualified, interested candidates with our written assessment. Interviews are coordinated for you.

  4. 04Close & onboard

Offer strategy, counter-offer prep and a 90-day check-in so great hires become long-term ones.
