Medical Imaging and Radiology recruiting and talent strategy.

Imaging is a capital business with a long tail. Scanners are standardized across a health system, bought by a committee of radiology, physics, IT and finance, then held for a decade on service contracts and upgrades. Physics, hardware, software and AI engineering, applications specialists, field service and regulatory talent carry the business as much as the commercial team, and software now runs on its own cycle.

What we search

Inside medical imaging and radiology.

A search usually sits in one of these areas, and often spans two or three.

01

MRI

The heaviest capital purchase in imaging, with siting, shielding and cryogen requirements that involve facilities long before a clinical decision. Magnet, coil and sequence development, applications training and the service agreement all shape the system's value long after install.

  • MR Physicist
  • RF Coil Engineer
  • Clinical Applications Specialist
  • Field Service Engineer
02

CT

The workhorse of the department, carrying emergency, screening and oncology follow-up volume, where dose management and uptime matter more than novelty. Systems are bought as a fleet, and detector, reconstruction and software engineering decide image quality and dose.

  • Reconstruction Software Engineer
  • Detector Engineer
  • Applications Specialist
  • Strategic Account Executive
03

Ultrasound

Systems ranging from a cart in radiology to a handheld probe at the bedside, used in radiology, obstetrics, emergency medicine and the OR. Transducer design, signal processing and real scanning skill in the field all decide whether image quality holds up in a live demonstration.

  • Transducer Engineer
  • Signal Processing Engineer
  • Clinical Applications Specialist
  • Territory Manager
04

X-ray and fluoroscopy

Radiography rooms, mobile units and the fixed and mobile C-arms used in the OR and the interventional suite. Replacement runs on equipment age, service cost and dose reporting, so mechanical and systems engineering, field service and fleet planning carry the installed base.

  • Systems Engineer
  • Field Service Engineer
  • Product Manager
  • Modality Sales Specialist
05

Nuclear medicine and PET

SPECT and PET imaging that depends on a radiotracer supply chain as much as on the camera, because half life dictates delivery windows and scheduling. Detector physics, radiopharmaceutical regulatory work and reimbursement shape tracer adoption alongside the department relationship.

  • Nuclear Physicist
  • Radiopharmaceutical Regulatory Manager
  • Medical Science Liaison
  • Market Access Manager
06

Imaging AI

Software that triages studies, flags findings or measures automatically, sold as a subscription into radiology and IT. Machine learning, validation on each population, PACS integration and regulatory clearance come before the deal, and security review pulls the cycle toward health IT.

  • Machine Learning Engineer
  • Clinical Validation Scientist
  • Implementation Manager
  • Enterprise Account Executive
07

Image-guided therapy

Angiography suites, hybrid operating rooms and the navigation and fusion software that runs on them, bought jointly by radiology, cardiology and surgery. Room design, software and applications support keep new procedures moving into the room.

  • Navigation Software Engineer
  • Field Clinical Engineer
  • Project Manager
  • Clinical Specialist
08

Contrast and imaging agents

Iodinated and gadolinium based agents, ultrasound agents and the injectors and dose management software that go with them. Supply is contracted at the system level, so pharmacovigilance, regulatory and safety documentation sit alongside protocol standardization and contract defense.

  • Pharmacovigilance Manager
  • Regulatory Affairs Manager
  • Clinical Educator
  • National Accounts Manager
What makes it hard

Where medical imaging and radiology searches go wrong.

The assumptions that cost the most time, and what tends to be true instead.

“Hardware talent can build and sell the software”

Reading and workflow software is bought on a subscription by a different group, usually including IT, security and a radiology informatics lead, and it's renewed on measured use. The engineering is different too: continuous releases, cloud deployment and AI validation under regulatory control. Equipment experience helps with the department, but the motion is health IT.

“Long capital cycles make a slow hire a cheap hire”

Fleet decisions and multi-year service agreements are set at the health system level, and once a standard is chosen the next opening is years out. A key seat left open through that window, commercial or technical, can cost a position that took a decade to build, while the incumbent's installed base and upgrade path keep working for them.

“Applications and service are cost centers, not hires that matter”

Applications specialists and field engineers decide whether a scanner performs the way it was sold, and they own the protocol, training and uptime relationship that shapes the next purchase. Staffing them thinly makes the capital team's job harder, and the people who do it well are scarce, because it takes technologist or engineering experience plus a willingness to travel.

“Paying a premium for A+ talent is not worth it.”

Paying 20% above market will almost always return five to ten times that, provided you have the right person.

How a search runs

Four steps, every time.

The same sequence whether the seat is an engineer, a clinical lead or a territory in medical imaging and radiology, or the executive who builds the team around them.

  1. 01Define

A Talent Director who knows your specialty scopes the role, what it has to deliver and the profile that actually wins in your market.

  2. 02Search & vet

We reach passive candidates others can't, then screen for skill, culture fit and motivation before you see a single resume.

  3. 03Present

Three to five qualified, interested candidates with our written assessment. Interviews are coordinated for you.

  4. 04Close & onboard

Offer strategy, counter-offer prep and a 90-day check-in so great hires become long-term ones.
