Gastroenterology and Hepatology recruiting and talent strategy.

GI care splits between hospital endoscopy suites and ambulatory surgery centers owned by gastroenterology groups, and those groups have consolidated behind management organizations. Capital sits with the health system or the center, while single-use devices move on procedure volume and physician preference. Optics and imaging engineering, single-use device design, clinical evidence and commercial teams all have to work inside that split.

What we search

Inside gastroenterology and hepatology.

A search usually sits in one of these areas, and often spans two or three.

01

Endoscopy

Scopes, towers, insufflation and the single-use tools that pass through the working channel. Capital decisions run through value analysis and service line economics, while reprocessing and infection concerns have pushed single-use scope design, imaging engineering and quality to the center of the category.

  • Optical Engineer
  • Quality Engineer
  • Clinical Specialist
  • Capital Sales Specialist
02

GERD and esophageal disease

Reflux testing, Barrett's surveillance and ablation, dilation, and surgical or endoscopic reflux repair. The referral path crosses gastroenterology and foregut surgery, so clinical evidence, physician education and referral development matter alongside the device itself.

  • Clinical Research Manager
  • Professional Education Manager
  • Therapy Development Manager
  • Territory Manager
03

IBD and colorectal

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis care, plus the colorectal surgery that follows when medical management fails. Products range from monitoring and diagnostics used in the clinic to stapling, ostomy and anastomotic tools in the operating room, so R&D, medical affairs and commercial teams serve both a medical practice and a surgical service.

  • R&D Engineer
  • Medical Science Liaison
  • Clinical Specialist
  • Surgical Sales Representative
04

Liver disease

Fatty liver disease, hepatitis, fibrosis staging and cirrhosis, assessed increasingly with noninvasive elastography and blood-based testing rather than biopsy. Ultrasound engineering, assay development and clinical validation decide whether a test earns a place in hepatology, transplant and primary care.

  • Ultrasound Engineer
  • Assay Development Scientist
  • Medical Science Liaison
  • Clinical Applications Specialist
05

Pancreaticobiliary

ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, biliary and pancreatic stenting, stone removal and cholangioscopy. Procedures concentrate in a limited number of advanced endoscopists at referral centers, which makes the clinical bar high for product design, clinical support and regulatory work alike.

  • Product Development Engineer
  • Regulatory Affairs Specialist
  • Clinical Specialist
  • Territory Manager
06

GI motility and functional disorders

Manometry, pH impedance testing, breath testing and treatments for gastroparesis and functional bowel disease. Diagnostics sit in a motility lab staffed by technicians, so instrument and software engineering, training that keeps studies interpretable and early reimbursement work all matter.

  • Software Engineer
  • Clinical Applications Specialist
  • Reimbursement Manager
  • Product Manager
07

Colorectal cancer screening

Colonoscopy, stool-based testing and blood-based screening, ordered mostly in primary care and completed in gastroenterology. Noninvasive tests depend on laboratory operations, clinical validation and payer coverage, and on pull-through across two call points.

  • Laboratory Operations Manager
  • Clinical Affairs Director
  • Market Access Manager
  • Account Executive
What makes it hard

Where gastroenterology and hepatology searches go wrong.

The assumptions that cost the most time, and what tends to be true instead.

“Hospital experience translates straight to the ASC”

Endoscopy volume has moved into physician-owned ambulatory centers, where the buyer owns the equipment, the room time and the margin. A commercial hire who has only sold into hospitals argues clinical benefit to a committee. In a center, the same conversation is with an owner physician weighing capital against take-home economics, and candidates who have never had it stall.

“Single-use scopes are a simple engineering problem”

Replacing a reusable scope with a single-use one means hitting imaging quality, maneuverability and cost targets at manufacturing scale, while documenting performance to regulators. Engineers from reusable optics or from consumer cameras each bring only half of that. Look for people who have taken a disposable imaging or catheter product into high-volume production.

“Decisions still sit with individual practices”

Gastroenterology groups have consolidated under management organizations and investor backing, which moves contracting, formulary and vendor approval above the practice. Leaders who built their business on physician preference can win the doctor and lose the account. Companies usually need executives who understand corporate agreements, evidence and economics at the group level.

Roles we fill

Individual contributors to executive leadership.

The same vertical knowledge applies across commercial, clinical, R&D and engineering, regulatory, quality and operations, whether the seat is in the field, the lab, the plant or the boardroom.

How a search runs

Four steps, every time.

The same sequence whether the seat is an engineer, a clinical lead or a territory in gastroenterology and hepatology, or the executive who builds the team around them.

  1. 01Define

A Talent Director who knows your specialty scopes the role, what it has to deliver and the profile that actually wins in your market.

  2. 02Search & vet

We reach passive candidates others can't, then screen for skill, culture fit and motivation before you see a single resume.

  3. 03Present

Three to five qualified, interested candidates with our written assessment. Interviews are coordinated for you.

  4. 04Close & onboard

Offer strategy, counter-offer prep and a 90-day check-in so great hires become long-term ones.
